Terms of Service
Last updated: 6 June 2026
These terms set out how Brickwork ("we", "us") provides website design and related services to you ("the client"). By engaging us — for example by paying a deposit — you agree to these terms.
Plain-English summary: the mockup is free, you pay 50% to start and 50% when you're happy, you own the finished site once it's paid in full, and third-party costs like Shopify and domains aren't included.
1. The free mockup
We provide an initial visual mockup at no cost and with no obligation. The mockup remains our property until a project is commissioned and paid for. Requesting a mockup does not create a contract to build a site.
2. Payment
- Projects are quoted upfront at the prices shown on our site or in writing.
- A 50% deposit is due to secure your slot and begin work. The remaining 50% is due once the finished site is approved by you and before it goes live or files are transferred.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. Recurring plans (e.g. Monthly Website Care) bill monthly and can be cancelled at any time with effect from the next billing date.
3. Timelines
Our 7-day delivery target begins the day after we receive your completed brief and deposit. Timelines depend on you supplying content and feedback promptly. If something outside our reasonable control causes a delay, we will tell you as soon as possible.
4. Revisions & aftercare
Each project includes reasonable revisions during the build plus 7 days of free changes after launch. Substantial changes of scope after approval may be quoted separately or covered under a Monthly Website Care plan.
5. Your responsibilities
- Provide accurate information and any content, logos or assets you want used.
- Ensure you have the right to use any material you supply.
- Maintain your own accounts for third-party services (e.g. Shopify, domain registrar, email).
6. Third-party costs
Our prices cover design and build only. Subscriptions and fees for third-party platforms — such as Shopify plans (around £25/month), domain names, premium apps or paid integrations — are paid by you directly to those providers and are not included.
7. Ownership
Once your project is paid in full, you own the finished website and its custom design. Until then, all work remains our property. We may use non-confidential aspects of completed work in our portfolio unless you ask us not to.
8. Cancellation & refunds
You can cancel before work begins for a full refund of the deposit. If you cancel after work has started, the deposit covers work completed to that point. Because the mockup is free and the balance is only due on approval, you are never asked to pay in full for a site you haven't approved.
9. Liability
We deliver our services with reasonable skill and care. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid for the relevant project. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. These terms do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales.
